IDEA #18 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

     1.     The Idea

A good number of Nigerians, both males and more recently females use boxer shorts. An exact figure may not be readily available but it is very plausible that this number of boxer shorts users, are big enough for market consideration.

IDEA #17 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

1.     The Idea

Football has grown to have a huge place in the culture of many Nigerians, who havegrown an affinity to the beautiful game, especially the European leagues and Cup tournaments.

Providing a 300-500 seater venue (AC fitted/Fans), which charges 100 naira per match, can be a source of revenue generation, seeing that there are an estimated 6-10 key matches every week, whilst the leagues are in session. This will work best in crowded (highly populated) residential settlements. While there may already be some forms of this already being operated, you can break in with something that offers more and gives the football viewer a richer experience.

IDEA #16 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

1.  The Idea

In some Cities in the Southern parts of Nigeria (I have not stayed in North in recent times), there are a good number of Laundry services providers, catering for different customers in different income brackets.  Both the higher and middle class do patronize the services of Laundry service providers. Whilst some may have a washing machine in their homes, some others might just feel like passing such responsibility to someone else (preferably a Professional). If there is a complementary service attached, this could attract and encourage customers to use this. Students and some lower income households could also be catered for and may not have so much money to pay for the regular laundry services. Which leads to this week’s idea.

IDEA #15 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

     1.  The Idea
Rice, Beans and Garri, or any other grain out there in the Nigerian market can be bought wholesale (50kg), rebagged (with permission from your supplier) and resold in smaller sizes (2kg, 5kg packs).

IDEA #14 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

     1. The Idea

I manufacture risk free menstrual pads for women – Nkem Obianwu

Risk? From Sanitary pads? Yeah, women are at risk of contracting genital diseases resulting from the use of some chemicals and toxins in the production of women’s sanitary pads. The pads are not to be used for more than plus or minus 8 hours and should be changed. Failure to do this heightens the risk as the blood and the chemicals used in the production can mix and give off something probably unsafe.

IDEA #13 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

     1.    The Idea
Old age is inevitable and the times will come when strength and general mental and physical abilities will fail. In those moments one would need to still be given the best of care in the World and not neglected by very busy loved ones who could leave their elderly in the Village, or have them in the City with them and not have the time to truly give them the right amount of care they need. This idea was first mentioned by www.startupdemands.com in a series they ran last year.

IDEA #12 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

     1.    The Idea

Nigeria is blessed with access to the Atlantic Ocean, Sea, Rivers, Lagoons and with it, a wide variety of Sea foods. In recent times, more people have joined in fish farming (various Catfish farmers), all adding to the high abundance of fish and other seafood produces in Nigeria. But one wonders why we still import canned fish product like Sardines, Tuna, Geisha into Nigeria.

IDEA #11 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

        1. The Idea
The 11th idea in our series of 52 Business Startup ideas for Nigeria is ‘Tomatoes – middleman sales + Paste production”.

One can take advantage of the high demand for tomatoes in the meals of various Nigerian household with Nigeria being the biggest importer of Tomatoes in Africa (theNation,2015), to join in the Tomato Value chain as either a middle man between the Farmer and the retailers/end users, or to make your own tomato paste, package it, then sell.

IDEA #10 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

1. The Idea

Hi, Still on our series about getting young Nigerians gainfully employed, we explore the business opportunity Eggs from Poultry farms could offer.

Eggs are a very good source of inexpensive, high quality protein. More than half the protein of an egg is found in the egg white along with vitamin B2 and lower amounts of fat and cholesterol than the yolk. The whites are rich sources of selenium, vitamin D, B6, B12 and minerals such as zinc, iron and copper.

IDEA #9 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

Idea 9 of 52  - Pineapple chips

1. The Idea
I once tasted this pineapple snack at the Oyo State NYSC orientation camp during the SAED in-camp training. So I have decided to share this to everyone as this could be a good source of employment and revenue generation to anyone who would be able to properly prepare and package this for sale.
I found an article that was really helpful and would highlight some bits that would add more depth to the presentation of this Idea.

IDEA #8 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

Idea 7 of 52  - Mango - Value addition + Storage

From February through to April seems to be the period the Mango trees produce their juicy succulent naturally sweet fruit. The Mango trees are also abundantly present in various states in Nigeria.

The Mango fruit is high in nutrients, rich in taste and flavor and is a favorite fruit for some people, but there are some challenges to face in its growth-harvest-market cycle. They include; attack of microorganisms, short shelf life, poor handling during transportation and storage.

7 MONEY LESSONS FROM THE RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON

Few weeks ago I wrote a pieces on FINANCIAL CHOICES IN YOUR TWENTIES. This post is just about similar to that. As a matter of fact I wanted to tag this post 'Financial Choices in Your Twenties Part 2. But again the lessons here are not only for young people in their twenties, it is also applicable to people in their thirties or forties that are yet to secure their financial future.

The Richest Man in Babylon (authored by George S. Clason) is a must read for everyone who wants to secure his financial future; who wants to enjoy financial freedom and build a lasting wealth. I first read this book at a very young age (14 or there about). Since then I have read several other financial books, and I came to a realization that the principles contained in this book (The Richest man in Babylon) is the foundation through which many other financial books are written.

Idea 7 of 52  - Cassava logistics from Farms to Market

     1. The Idea

IDEA #6 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

Idea 6 of 52  - Bring Back Our Ice-Cream vans

     1. The Idea

Bring back our Ice cream vans. I remember while growing up, we were attracted to the sound of the Ice-cream van as it played some tunes through its speakers. For some reasons, they seem to have reduced or even disappeared in some places despite the fact that most cities in Nigeria are still warm (‘Hot’) almost all year round. Where did they go? What happened to them? If you have some answers feel free to comment.

IDEA #5 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

Idea 5 of 52  - Mobile Toilets (Accessorized with Perfumes)

1. The Idea

Necessity they say is the mother of inventions. I believe if we observe our environments and see those things that we lack, or seem to be unavailable, whether due to non-performance by Governments (community leaders), or a collective negligence towards basic societal needs, We will be presented with opportunities to innovate and make positive impact.

HOW I BUILT MY PORTFOLIO - CELESTINE OMIN, SENIOR TECHNICAL CONSULTANT AT ANDELA.

I was browsing the Internet yesterday doing some sort of research on the next article to post on this blog. Idea 4 of 52 - Packaged Sliced Carrot

1. The Idea

IDEA #3 - 52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS START-UP IDEAS

IDEA 3 of 52 - Graphics and Print media Consultant

1. The Idea
This is one Business you can start with little or no funds. I once came across this idea many years ago in a Newspaper article and it made some sense, and so I would share in this week Idea 3 post of our 52 ideas series.

IDEA 2: 52 WEEKS,52 BUSINESS STARTUP IDEAS

IDEA 2 OF 52 - Waste Disposal Business

1. The Idea
Let me once again introduce you to a country with a very high rate of unemployment, Nigeria. It is not a secret in the sense that it is a common saying in Nigeria, that there are no Jobs. If this translates to mean that there is nothing to do, wouldn’t this present a country that is so perfectly working well, and neatly organized, having little or no vacancies for new workers or improvement upon what the situation is??

IDEA 1: 52 WEEKS,52 BUSINESS STARTUP IDEAS

IDEA 1 OF 52 - Production of different flavoured Coated Peanut snack

1. The Idea
To begin our series, we start with one industry that will always remain, irrespective of the state of the economy: The Food industry. There is a common saying in Nigeria that goes like this; Man must ‘Wack’ (i.e. Man must eat). Food is highly important and it’s among the three (3) basic needs, along with clothing and shelter. In times of scarcity, the hardest hit businesses are the luxury ones.

52 WEEKS,52 BUSINESS STARTUP IDEAS BY MR EBIS

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

On returning to Nigeria after 5 years of studying in the United Kingdom, I noticed how seriously under-developed the Nigerian society was in terms of the unavailability of certain basic amenities and the seeming adverse effect of unemployment among the young.

52 WEEKS, 52 BUSINESS STARTUP IDEAS

52 weeks, 52 Business Startup ideas is an initiative by Mr. Ebiseri Aginighan popularly known as MR EBIS. He is a lead consultant at Agape Development Consultants (ADC).

A LESSON ON PERSISTENCE: THREE FEET FROM GOLD

One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat. Every person is guilty of this mistake at one time or another. An uncle of R. U. Darby was caught by the ‘gold fever’ in the gold rush days, and went west to DIG AND GROW RICH.
